Anatta is not nothing. It is somehow the photographic negative of how we look at the world, the trees of light between the trees, the cracks between the people, the moments of silence and quiet between those moments of vibrating heat and the majesty that is hidden in them.
Ajahn Nisabho
The following are gems of wisdom gained from listening to this humble being speak so beautifully this morning.
[Practice] is the daily following of something quiet and you have to be quiet to follow it.
"I am this"...the self forms in the shadow of Self
[Even when we advance in the practice] the subtle sense of lingering self remains
Self flagellation a sense of narcissim, a sense of circling around one self...unwholesome selfing
Problems are not solved, they dissolve
Anatta = no self
An empty of self =full of reality, full of life, full of light
[Take]one more step in dissappearing
nivata= without wind= humility= without self
'self' forms in the shadow of craving
Be weary of gain, honor and praise...(keep us stuck in self) "will be ripped away"...these are impermanent
Do not wish gain, honor, and praise on anyone
Milarepa: tibetan yogi...."a worldly pursuits have but one inevitable end, which is sorrow. Meetings end in partings, acquisitions in dispersions, buildings in destruction, birth in death. Knowing this, one should from the very start renounce meeting, building and acquiring. And faithful to the demands of an emminent teacher, go about realizing the truth which has no birth or no death. This alone is the best science.
The less well known, the greater the angel..Christian saying
There is pride in not being despised...
Mara controls that wanting to be seen when we give...
Not being seen magnifies karma
Try one unnaminous act of kindness a day
"Bright loud and mobile is the false.Subtle and indistinct is the true." Anja Amaro
Remove self from praise...whatever good you do and are praised for, acknowledge that the gift you gave was given from another to you...
Say, when attached to outcomes, very slowly, "When I finish this book I will be ver happy forever"
What you don't acknowledge becomes your destiny...Carl Jung
All is well
